can anyone suggest basic circuit to test a astable multivibrator .

it can be used any where, where we need the clock pulse train of low frequancy.
like a function generator contains.
astable multivibrator is used to produce waveforms
as Astable means the circuit is not set to one state or the other but rather oscillates between those states. Therefore the application is signal generation

You can get a frequency to voltage converter chip. A certain voltage from the frequency to voltage converter will mean a certain input frequency. The FVC chip does not care about duty cycle so voltage is very accurate.

Or, you can build a frequency counter and display the exact frequency of your signal.

Or you can buy a frequency counter (some volt meters even have one built in "frequency" function).

What is the goal of your question? Why do you want to "test" an astable circuit?

if its an audio frequency, try a piezo speaker. if higher than ausio, cap couple to an integrator and read voltage. if frequency needs to be exace, use a freq counter.
