Now they are incentives? I would call it socialized manufacturing. Soon, Carrier will be the only A/C manufacturer and those poor companies not in the Vice President's state can suck shit. They'll have no need to innovate or improve their product. They will likely press for the EPA to remove the efficiency standards because they are too expensive on the manufacturing side - let the consumer pay for the inefficiencies in their monthly power bill.

Hopefully Trump and Pense will do that with the toilet paper industry and when that company has a manufacturing hiccup, we can all wait in line like the Soviet era - like when America was Great!
Hmm, now that I think about it, getting rid of NAFTA and adding tariffs is just a tax hike in disguise. I pay more and the gov't gets the money. :(

Seems that prohibition went the way of similar policy on political discussion:rolleyes: -- No need to blame @Wendy - it happened in her absence:(

Best regards

Mods are members too and can participate in hot-topic threads as members on par with the rest of the posters. Mods who are not participating in the thread keep an eye on things. At least, that's how I see it.

All tariffs are taxes, yup. So are any market interventions, really. Just another way to redistribute from one group to a more favored group.

I see nothing in my post that disputes that point? I was merely expressing my opinion that failure to enforce this site's explicit and long-standing prohibition of political discussion is a mistake -- and, further, that @Wendy was not a party to said decision...

Sincerely

interesting that Pence is allowed to singlehandedly provide tax incentives in Indiana. I thought those Hoosiers were opposed to executive orders.

I wasn't criticizing your comment, just using it to reinforce my assertion that sometimes mods like to participate, too. As for your observation that failure to enforce prohibitions on political discussion is a mistake I understand your concerns completely. However, the membership enjoys the ability to discuss politics and other hot-topic issues here. It's part of our community. For the most part, everyone gets along even when discussing wildly different opinions and beliefs. That alone makes AAC a unique place on the web, something that the mods and staff are justifiably proud of and our members should be as well. As we have oft stated, Off Topic can get a little rough and tumble sometimes but mostly it has been self-regulating as I think members also recognize that the ability to participate in hot-topic threads with respected peers is a valuable thing not to be abused.

It's more work for us but we think it's worth it.

You've accomplished what my wife hasn't been able to do in 24 years of marriage... you've let me speechless!...
I'll set you up with a meeting with my Ex and you can ask her about any other topics that have been brought up here. I guarantee you be beyond speechless afterwards. I know I am every time and often for days later at that.

She's got reasonings behind her views that even batsh!t crazy won't dare poke at with a stick.

Absolutely! I think it's a lot of fun and sometimes very educational. It gives us a chance to see how the other people think, and that's a good thing. I've even changed my mind on a couple of things. There I said it and I'm glad! :D

Just correctly observing reality...but I've been married. I know how difficult it can be to get someone else to correctly observe reality.:(
And the quire sang on high.... Then fell over dead while laughing. I had a night out with the Ex and daughter to night and I asked her about her views on recent political events. The responses and reasonings she had that I got are beyond my abilities to put in text and have make sense.

Holy MthrFkr that's got to be one sh!tstorm of a reality inside her head.

Fair enough!:)

Respectfully, such is inconsistent with publicly declared policy as stated HERE

I draw your attention to the following:
Dave said:
The Off-Topic forum is for general discussions about anything not related to electronics.
The following are a list of what is not permitted in this forum:
- No Spamming or Advertising
- No Abusing or Insulting Members
- No Adult, Vulgar, Offensive, or other Contentious Content
- No Politics
- No HHO, overunity, or Meyer
-- Emphasis added --

IMO the (original) policy is worth preserving not merely for maintenance of 'the letter of the law' but, rather, for the wisdom vested therein...

Very best regards

A Quire can sing?

My dad was in the printing business and I hung around his office quite a bit. I've never seen 2-dozen sheets of paper sing.

Yes. Thanks the spelling and grammar check system rewarding my posts as it sees fit, paper can in fact sing just for you grammar trolls/nazis.

My mind has been changed as well. Now I carry a 9mm every time I go to church. Luckily, that is only weddings and funerals but the trumpeteers have convinced me there are some crazy people out there.
It's been crazy for a while (over a decade) now! -- IMO what's needed is a return to governance by Republicans and Democrats -- as opposed to Reactionaries and Leftists...

Best regards

To accomplish such a feat, one needs to first aquire a proper yardstick to measure reality with. And I'm afraid that reason alone won't cut it, since it also depends on the one that claims to own it... it's the history of humanity all over again...
