Building a remote gain controller

Hi there I’m new here and hope to learn some stuff as I try my best to build my project.

I have an audio amplifier that has Bass gain control potentiometers to make adjustments.
There is also a phono jack to place a remote controller and I’m trying to build this myself.

I have worked out it’s a mono female jack and the original product only has two small phone cables/wires going to a potentiometer but I just can’t work out which potentiometer to use here?

I wanted to use a 6mm 100K Single/Double Linear Rotary Potentiometer used for Audio/Amplifier?

Could anyone help me work this out and which pot to use please?
