Hello there,

I went to try out writing a Blog here on AAC and got to this part and wasn't sure what the different types meant.
(See attachment)

You can see the three different types:
List View
Grid View
Blog Entry View

What are these three and how do they differ?

You have to select one and I want to know how to decide which one would be best for the content.

Thanks.

The setting determines how the different blog entries will be display in the blog’s main page. Each entry is a blog post. You can have them appear as a list, which gives each entry a small summary and stacks them one on top of the other; a grid of squares with a small summery of each entry in its own box; or as entries, where each gets a larger, longer summary and is stacked one on the other.

Below are examples of each. I think the list vs. grid is an æsthetic choice, while the entry view is just a bad interface.

Hi Ya'akov,

Hey thanks for that explanation. That makes it very clear how each view works.
Maybe your post should be linked to the page that asks you to choose a particular view. That would help other members too.

Do you think you can switch views after say a few blog entries were made?

BTW, I see you've been very busy too :)

Glad to be of assistance. While help pages are always a good thing, something a bit more polished than my post is probably called for.

You can change at any time. My demonstration wad with existing posts.

I have not been able to keep up with my intended publishing schedule. I am well behind on everything, particularly the soldering blog which I consider very important. I do need to get back to that as weather keeps me inside.

Hello again,

Well your reply was very helpful when there was no mention of what those three were all about. Maybe an interim link would help for now. Just a suggestion though.

When you say you can change at any time, do you mean you can change for the NEXT entry or does it change ALL the entries that are already in the blog, plus the next entry?

I think I already like the List version it seems the most natural.

Hey, maybe a blog about blogs :)

It is a global change and determines the interface for the blog. It is a “blog setting” not an “entry setting”.

A blog about blogs might cause the universe to collapse in on itself, however a blog about “getting the most from AAC” which could include blog information as well as a lot of other stuff, community written (though curated) really could be a good thing.

Hi,

Yes, that sounds interesting and could be informative. Maybe something in brief like we might see in a manual: "Quick Start".
That's nice about the blog setting so you can visualize the entries and discover which ones you like best.
Oh, maybe a quick note with the radio buttons: "You can change this later too", or something like that.
