Can someone help me about Binary counters using LS192? We are using a 5X7 LED display and the numbers are skipping 1-2-3-5-7-9. 6 and 8 are missing. what might be the problem?

I have know idea -- my psychic abilities are a bit rusty of late. A schematic would really help. Also, a bit more description about the problem you are seeing. For instance, it is stuly skipping over the two missing numbers, or it is just displaying the wrong thing? A hint to which it is can be found in seeing it the amount of time it takes to go from each digit you ARE seeing is even and uniform, or do some of the digits seem to display for two or three times as long as they should?

 

It looks like three numbers are missing: 4,6 and 8...
There doesn't seem to be anything common with these numbers. 4 and 8 are different bits, and 9 contains 8 as well as 7 contains 4 - I thought initially it was noteable that 4 & 6 were missing since both used the 4 bit however that doen't explain the 7 displaying.

They do have something in common -- they are all even.

2: 0010
4: 0100
6: 0110
8: 1000

It's a bit of a stretch, but the three patterns that are missing have at least one of the two high bits set and the lsb is clear.

It would SURE help to have a schematic!
