Hello everybody

I am new to this forum and I don't have much experience with circuits etc... I have a problem with my bike computer.

Recently it will only display the digit 8 (see picture) and will not move on to start screen. I have tried to reset it.. opened the computer.. looked after debrid/dirt etc but it looks ok. Wiring looks ok to the board. If you move to a position where you can look down on the board it is actually possible to se the menu.. ie it is as such workable but kind of annoying that menu, selection etc is not visible when you sit on the cycle.

Any help would be appreciated.

See the greenish ribbon cable? I'd normally be reluctant to mess with it but if the device is unusable, it may be worth making sure both ends of that are well seated. Sometimes they simply slip into the connector and are held only by friction. In that case, pulling it out and pushing it back in can sometimes "fix" the connection.

Just 2¢. I have no idea if that's your problem but I know those things do fail.

 

Check if there are cold solder joints or cracks in the solder around the LCD driver IC or connector pins. Resolder if needed.
