Hey, I want to design a circuit that consists for wiring not necessarily on a PCB. Like that find in cars or a boat.

I'm looking for some free beginner friendly software to use for a basic circuit design and simulation.

Thanks!

Hey geratheg, Try
1.TINA-TI from texas instruments, it is a nice software and is free to download on registration.nice schematic editor, neat 'wire drawing',user friendly, you can change component parameters or create a new one or download models. The ac small signal analysis is wonderful.

2.LT-spice from linear tech. It may not be visually appealing, but you can change colours, shapes, layout of components and background. The wire drawing scheme is little different from other simulators like tina or proteus, but you can get along. The transient analysis is really pleasing to see. These are the two that I use, but there are other softwares like eagle , multisim, NGSPICE( no GUI !),proteus, Pspice, etc.

Thank you for the suggestions!

I wanted to try Eagle, but it looks like a software for PCB design.
I'll check out that ones you recommended.

Hey, is there a way to add components to TINA-TI? I can't seem to find a DPDT switch in there.

Thanks!

Drawings associated with Electronic circuitry are layed out slightly different than Electrical Equipment machine or enclosures, the latter generally follow a ladder type of diagram, that progresses either from the left to the right or from top downward, as in Europe.
See Electrical Circuitry sheet example.

Many use a universal CAD software and built a template and library of standard symbols.

Cannot seem to figure out how to add a DPDT switch to Tina-TI, if you can give me an example of how to do this that would help.
Meanwhile, I came across TinyCad - an open sources electrical cad software.

Digikey software looks nice and actually has the DPDT switch I'm looking for.

Thanks!
