Hello, I have constructed an 5X1 patch array where there is zero phase between elements i get the pattern shown bellow,
but when i do 0 30 60 90 120 phase exitation the beam moved only ny 8 degrees.
Why is that?
Where did i go wrong?

What is "CST" from the title?
CST is CST Studio, a software suite intended for E&M simulation. Whereas Ansys HFSS excels at frequency-domain simulations, CST excels at time-domain simulation. I just started learning how to use it for my thesis this past spring and now relearning it for work, so that's the extent of the assistance I can be on this question.

Thank you.

It seems the software comes with tutorials. I knew several CRT and deflection yoke engineers back when CRTs were the display of choice for many uses. Those were brilliant guys, but alas there the big budget CRT development projects ended in the 1990's and for the most part these brilliant specialists have retired or moved to other jobs a long time ago and most are no longer with us. I have not seen anybody show similar qualifications on this forum.

I will be watching this thread with interest.

I've no idea where you went wrong (but I suspect you aren't driving the patches with the phasing you think you are), but in all these things you should break it down into smaller parts. If your single patch simulation gives a believable pattern and realistic input impedance, then go to two patches. Drive them in-phase and you should see a peak at broadside, drive them in anti-phase (180 deg apart) you should have a null at broadside. Get that right then you will believe that you know how to phase them correctly and move along to driving an array.
