Battery Power Advice

I am designing a watch for commercial purposes. One of the specialty IC's involved requires 3.3V. I don't have the real estate for several batteries. I am pretty much constrained to one or two small coin cell batteries (the 6 mm guys). Given that two coin cells in series is only 3V my voltage would drop below the minimum voltage for the IC before the batteries were completely depleted. So you see my issue...

My thought was to design a simple boost regulator to maintain 3.3V from a 1.5V cell. Seems rather complex/expensive for a somewhat simple watch... Any other thoughts or suggestions?
