Battery charger

Hi i am a new ckt designer.I want to charge my 12 v dc battery and then use it as an inverter .Will using rectifier ckt with parallel capacitor connected to the battery work.
Please help

He wants to blow up his battery with unlimited current instead of charging it with a controlled amount of current.
There was no mention of sensing a full charge and shutting down the charger instead of over-charging.

What's your question?

I have one for you: What's your source of power with which to charge the battery? And here's another: Why use the filter capacitor? Your battery likely has much large capacity than the capacitor.

sorry.........i dnt mention da details.
I want to give an ac supply then using rectifier circuit will convert to dc.And use capacitance for the purpose of filtering.
Now my problem is how do i sense the charging of the battery when it is fully charged.

Again, filtering is useless with a battery (HUGE capacitor) in parallel with a regular (TINY) capacitor.

If you want to avoid overcharge as simply as possible, you may want to employ a constant voltage regulator such as one based LM317T. This will reduce current as the voltage nears the setpoint. There are many other (and better) techniques for determining state-of-charge and controlling current based on that, but none quite as simple. What type of battery are you charging? Constant voltage is not so good a strategy for modern NiMH.

If my guess is correct you're from India, and you need to take your 240 VAC 50 Hz (that often varies from 200 to 280V) to charge a 12V battery?

Do you not have an auto parts store there? They would be able to sell you one for far less than what it could cost to build one.

As to your converting the 12V back up that's another story.
