And batteries are rated in ampere-hours (Ah), not amperes.

A 12V battery for a remote control is small and produces a low current like a model 23A:

 

From Wikipedia:

An A27 battery is cylindrical, 27.8 mm long[1][3] and 7.7 mm in diameter, with a typical weight of 4.4 grams, and a typical capacity around 20 mAh. It has nominal voltage of 12 V.

So, in normal use, it would be limited to some milliamperes of current, not amperes.

Why are you using such a high voltage for a universal remote?

 

"27A" is the type number of the battery, not an ampere rating.

It looks like a very confusing label, as it looks like an AA size battery. And because it is a Hong Kong product the question of what it actually is remains a question. I have seen 1 volt batteries about that size used in amplified microphones.

 

27A or A27 is the style of battery. It cannot deliver 27 amps.
