Go to the course textbook. This sounds like a question culled from the pages of the textbook. "THIS, and THAT, are the two basic circuits in any electronic controller"

My guess would be, Open loop, and closed loop(feedback) circuits.

My money is on there being a sentence in the textbook with those exact words in it. When you find it, you will have found the answer the instructor wants to hear, whether it is sensible or not.
