Hello.
What type of barrier could be implemented for a microphone exposed to corrosive chemical spray, mist, vapors environment ?
Hoping for the least attenuation/distortion and good protection, what material could provide hermetic undistorted sound across ? It is a dynamic microphone about 10mm ∅ ~3/8"

IF there is a way to put a polyetheylene cover over it, or inside, to protect the actual mic element (cartridge) that would be a good start. Not so very critical for the$12microphone, but quite important for the $75 mic. OR a "saran wrap" shield to cover the whole thing.

Thanks, will explore mylar, saran, condom, PE, cellophane. Unsure if elastic or not elastic; thin or thick membrane will impair transmisivity. Guessing will have to try and measure performance. The resulting wrap will likely end as  :

The wrapper glued to the stick (cable)

The thinner the protective cover and the less mass, the less sound energy absorbed. Softer materials may attenuate higer frequencies more. What frequencies or range of frequencies are the intention to listen for??What frequencies are of no interet at all?? There do exist baffling aragementsthathave worked for some applications.
