I find comfort in stupid kids being annoying on this forum. It reminds me that there is still hope. Not every kid is sitting in front of the TV; Some are still interested in making things and learning.

Regarding those who have no interest or no will to learn; those who seem to be here because someone is making them, or because they want to "get a good job," I take those on a case by case basis. If they make any attempt at all I usually try to help, but if they are the type demanding answers and being obtuse, screw 'em. Let life sort those tools out; they won't get far.

It never fails, when you're the ignorant FNG who knows nothing and has to ask every single stupid question there is, you end up getting your answers embedded with a healthy dose of verbal abuse from some grumpy old bucket of sass like Audioguru. That's just how it is, and it wouldn't feel right any other way. The world needs Audiogurus as much as it needs thirsty young Audioguru replacements.

But I say let's send a message to the youngsters (I include myself) that when you're on the receiving end, you don't have the luxury of being obstinate or disrespectful. You need to put that crap on the shelf for a few decades and pull it back out when you are the one in control of the information. This is a simple principle of bargaining or leverage, however you look at it. You simply can't make demands or burn bridges when you are the only one with something to lose. A lot of stupid kids don't get that, and THAT is what makes them STUPID.

Wow! I've been in this industry for 3 decades, and I enjoy helping noobs. I especially like that moment where I know the light just came on. That's why I keep coming back to these forums. I don't feel grumpy at all when helping.

Those optuse ones get nothing more than a polite explanation about why I'm not helping further, than I use the "Unsubscribe" control to prevent thier threads from showing in my CP.

PS: AAC is one of the most visited electronics forum sites. I am not a native english speaker and still prefer to come here instead of some small site in my own language where the probability is tiny I can get any help.

I didn't mean that every person with 30 yr experience in a field is or becomes grumpy. I was just referring to what's become a "universal truth" in my life that, when you are the FNG, it is inevitable, you WILL at some point study/apprentice under, consult, work for, or seek information from some expert in the field who happens to be very grumpy. They will demean you and give you a ration of shart at every opportunity, and you will have no choice but endure it with a smile on your face if you still want to learn. Later in life you get to choose whether you're going to be an audioguru or a brownout.

One is when somebody wants to know what capacitor to replace so his 12V/5A power supply will put out 12V @ 50A. After about 40 posts explaining why something is impossible, and supplying links to finished power supplies for $40 that deliver 500W of load power, the OP usually says he doesn't want to spend more than $5.

I know what you mean. I feel the same way about most organized sports--baseball is the words. Because standing out in the middle of a big field waiting for the ball to come your direction is one high-intensity excitement-packed game!

The only sport I can really stand to watch is football, and I even have my limits on that.
