Balanced vs. Unbalanced Attenuators

Hi Guys,

Could anybody tell me what the advantages or disadvantages are in using a simple balanced 'tee' attenuator over an unbalanced one?

Obviously the difference is that a balanced design presents an equal resistance on both input-output lines, but why is this desirable in, for example, an audio application, or indeed any other application?

Thanks a lot.

Seems I was being silly. Is it that a balanced attenuator is for use with balanced signals? ie. 2 inputs 180 degrees apart?

Having Balanced Audio is desirable, but an attenuator is an attenuator, you use the correct type for the transmission line in use.
