Hi'ya I have been trying to add a microphone to. My DVR. System . The mic has two connection's a white RCA plug and a 12 v power socket so I got a plug and play cable connected the power cable up and connected he RCA to my dvr but nothing happened . Right so I tried a different method instead of connecting the RCA to the dvr I got a amp connected the white RCA plug to a splitter cable then connected the two RCA splitter plugs to the amp and and wired a speaker to the amp and that worked . The only problem is there is a lot of background noise coming out of the speaker . I have tried disconnecting the earth's on the amp and mic no difference ' tried different mains sockets no difference ' tried moving the amp and speaker away from any interference like in the middle of my living room no difference , there is no noise coming out of the speaker until I connect the mic anybody got any ideas ??

Part numbers, wiring diagram of your connections, photo of the inputs to the DVR, photos of the microphone, photos of the amplifier.

In other words, anything.

Watch your evening TV News and take note of the microphones clipped to shirts and lapels. Now when they do on street interviews outside the studio environment the microphones used. The audio requires different microphones for different applications. The type microphones to be used with you system should be covered in the operating instructions. Your DVR has specifications as do the microphones the users manual will suggest using with the system. All microphones are not created equal. Per Analog without knowing what you have there is no way to say why you have a problem or how to correct it.

Well the cable is a normal plug and play cable the type you get supplied with when you buy a CCTV system no part number . The mic is a M7 WP microseven waterproof outdoor microphone you use for CCTV IP cameras . The amp is a S.M.S.L. AMP 317324 .The speaker is just a normal house music centre one the brand is pulse . No need for a wiring diagram the mic is connected directly to the amp and the speaker is connected to the amp .thanks hope this helps
