My electronic project has a seven segment display. I want to fix it on the
front cover of the box. Normally we cut a slot and some how fix the SSD
on the front cover which lacks a professional look. Instead is there any mounting holder sort of thing
to fix the led to the cover so that the hole cut is not visible to users? I tried
my level best in searching/browsing. I am looking for some thing like the
holder you use in digital panel meters etc. Can any body help me?

 

Maybe search for led bezel, maybe someone has done a 3D Printer copy
of something.

Interestingly it says to use a DPM for this pupose. That means there
is no ready made product in the market?

The poor man's version is to cut the hole, mount the display behind the panel. Then print your 'bezel' on clear plastic film (like for a projector) and stick it over the hole. A black outline covers the edges of the hole and the plastic is easy to cut cleanly to leave a good edge.

Is your project box made of plastic or metal?
Is this a one-of-a-kind DIY project or you plan to go into production?

Some options I may suggest are:

1) Design and make your own bezel on a 3D printer.
2) Mill out the opening and glue coloured plastic filter on the inside of the hole.

There are ways to produce one myself. But I want a professional one which
will look like a small dpm. No matter if it is two digit also. If any body can tell me where the
DPM people get this stuff?
