Is it basically a Star Trek pdf tablet ? I bet they get hot with that big LCD screen. I already have too many books, but kindle books are super cheap, and I like Star Trek

I have a very cheap and slow tablet that can do other stuff, can it use kindle files, are they just pdf's ?

Maybe buying the tablet is like the bookclub joining fee, and then u get all the cheap books ?

If your tablet is a PC then there is a reader for kindle files and books can be downloaded to the PC for reading. I know this because I have done it.

P.S. I have a kindle fire and it doesn't get even noticeably warm.

I have the latest version of Kindle paperwhite, and I've owned a Kindle ever since it was first launched into the market.

To say that I simply cannot live without that device is an understatement. I have never ever bought another paper book ever since I bought the first one. Just keep in mind that these are devices designed for reading, and not for browsing webpages and such (although it does have that capability, in a limited way)

I’ve never upgraded my Kindle. I have one of the original models. But it served me well. I even have a novel published on the Kindle.

Look for “Terminal Illness” by DJ Lutz.

My kids gave me the original one. My son in law was in Seattle with Amazon at the time. Didn't much like it because it was too small for me to see very well. Upgraded when the 10" came out. Doesn't really do anything my iPhone 6X won,t do. Handy for traveling where wifi is available except no phone. I guess you could do whatever that video thing is if I weren't such a Luddite.

Ok it's a "Proscan" basically like this
https://www.amazon.ca/Proscan-7-Inch-Android-Capacitive-Processor/dp/B00AVD4PQQ

So I should look into kindle for sure.

I find the Proscan with it's 7" screen, get's pretty warm on the outside plastic, when on for even 1hr. I think it's the back-light's, or their circuitry when on. It's buried around here somewhere.

I should take it apart, actually I think I did pop the lid, and it's all nice looking SMD. It just needs a fan mod
