MC68HC705C8ACFN and its variants. e.g. , MC68HC705C8FN, MC68HC705C9ACFN, etc, is in a 44-pin PLCC package.

The circuit diagram for the programmer MC68HC05PGMR is described in section 2.3.3 on pages 2-9 to 2-19 in the device datasheet. Programming is accomplished by loading a bootloader program into RAM via the SCI serial port.

The newer programmer MC68HC05PGMR-2 could be very similar. We can try to identify the problem with your programmer.

Is this for an automotive ECU programming?

 

The ECU programmer we built ourselves like 25 years ago is no longer working and we can't find the schematic we used to make it. So until we can figure out what was wrong with the old one I was just hoping to find another programmer for now. There has to be some around that no one uses anymore so it was worth a shot. I found a few MC68HC05PGMR boards on ebay, however those only program the 40-pin chips. I appreciate your responses and consideration.

Mr Chips; I made a 40-pin to 44-pin adapter and was able to use an original M68HC05PGMR programmer which worked perfect. So I am no longer looking for a M68HC05PGMR-2, and can now focus on figuring out what happened to my original programmer. I just wanted to say thank you for your comments and considerations!
