I am finding it very difficult to debug code in STM32Cube IDE. I have gone through the user manual of STM32Cube IDE but I don't understand How do I debug code on STM32Cube IDE. Anyone know how to debug code in STM32Cube IDE

Here I am using STM32CubeIDE 1.5.0 while debugging code for STM32F4 Discovery board.

I position the cursor in the left margin (just left of the line number) opposite the line of code that I wish to place a breakpoint.
I right-click on the mouse and select Toggle Breakpoint.

toggle_breakpoint.png

Then I click on the Debug icon in the main menu bar.

debug.png
Click on Resume (F8) and the program will run until the breakpoint is encountered.

If you remove the breakpoint, you can run the program and then pause it by clicking on Suspend.
In this example, you can observe that the program was suspended in the delay( ) function and the value of d is 98.

@MrChips I now understand how to check variable value. How do you know the status of Pin changes.

In the given code, status of Pin 14 changes after every 250ms How can it be detected when status change in debugging window

As far as I know, debug mode is useful for interrogating the machine in static mode, that is, when the program is paused after reaching a breakpoint.

If you want to observe the state of an I/O pin dynamically, use an oscilloscope or an LED.

Usually registers can be viewed under SFRs tab
I looked under general register. I don't see SFR tab. I have attached screenshot

I don't have oscilloscope. I am asking for static mode When program stop at line 105 (breakpoint.) I want to check state of Pin14

You write to pin in GPIOD, so look at GPIOD register. Better way to debug a output pin is attach a LED to this pin as @MrChips pointed.
It also can be checked by connecting LED. Main purpose is to check the status of pin weather that pin is input pin or pin is output pin.

How to observe status of Pin14 in GPIO register

See OutputDataRegister (ODR) bit that corresponds to Pin14
Got it,
I am checking status of push button under GPIOA -> IDR pin R0. Status of push button doesn't change when button press is detected

@John99407 Normally, you should read the documentation with your IDE, and the datasheet for your MCU so you understand both sufficiently to be able to use them. Then experiment and learn. If you are uncertain what an SFR is- you need to read your MCU datasheet and figure that out. Not being mean, just saying. All the rest of us did it this way.

And the tool in the IDE for debugging- it's called a Debugger. Learning how to debug without it will teach you more than with it, although it is a nice convenience.

Have you enabled pull-up or pull-down resistors? If switch is between pin and ground, enable pull-up.
I have enabled pull-up resister. When i run program LED start blinking without pressing user button while I want to blink LED when i press the button first time.

If the switch is a contact to ground, pressing the switch would input a logic LOW.
Try this instead:

if ( HAL_GPIO_ReadPin(GPIOA, GPIO_PIN_0) == 0)

I am using user button on the board to blink LED. should switch be connected to board ground. I tried The change you mentioned. when I am pressing the button, LED is off
