Northwestern Bell
Southern Bell,
... Bell

Western Electric
Westinghouse (although they do sell their name occasionally to small appliance producers (CBS / Viacom actually owns the Westinghouse brand))

And when the Central Office loses control, the problem is quickly identified as you can only call locally (within the exchange) but not other exchanges or long distance.

Another anomaly is that people still wear 500yr old technology on their wrist to tell time, but modern youth now are unaccustomed to the time telling terms, due to obtaining time off a phone.
So as one person told me his grandson did not understand when he told him it was twenty five minutes to one.
12:35 he understood!

Token Ring: HP had a token ring protocol that they named (which I forget) to connect instruments together. Their SCSI protocol was called HPIB (National Instruments renamed it GPIB).
Do forgotten names of companies count?
