At least the forces of the apocalypse have a sense of irony; Deadline reports that Snowpiercer, a show about a group of people trying to survive in a world that has become inhospitably cold, has shut down production on its fourth and final season early because as many as 14 people — both crew members and background actors — had to be hospitalized for heat exhaustion. This particular outdoor set was in British Columbia, which is being racked by wildfires and extreme heat.

The problem was made worse because many of the background actors had to wear heavy winter clothing — remember, they’re pretending they’re living through an apocalyptic ice age — even as temperatures soared to to mid-90s.

Just gotta love illiterate journalists. Seems the job position of ProofReader has been replaced by illiterate speak and scribble. Bare and bear, bier and beer, and many others that speech-to-text software have problems with

Also, notice how he managed to find a ditch with cattails growing in it to stand in demonstrating just how very deep the water is while his film crew is only ankle deep. Anything to sensationalize and make a buck! Just why is it that I am skeptical of what I read and see on the "News"...

With all the things there are to bitch about you decided to pick this. Kinda like the schoolyard kid looking to pick a fight.

Residents of Portland apartments say someone is throwing explosives off balcony
“While people were walking up and down the boulevard and people were sitting there eating their dinner they threw this massive M-80 out and it exploded,” said Julius. “People went crazy, they were shouting up at him. It almost hit a lady walking her dog. It was absolute mayhem.”

Other residents we spoke to said they were afraid to walk outside now, fearful that one will go off near them. Julius says he and other residents called Portland Police but were told officers were busy working several shootings across the city and could not come. He says he called the non-emergency line the next day and spoke to an officer who reached out to the apartment complex. Julius was told by police that The Adrea wanted to handle the situation, but he and other residents are concerned the management won’t. They want to see the tenant evicted.

"this massive M-80 out and it exploded" ??? They only come in one size and not what they were when I was a kid which was pretty impressive and very dangerous. They still carry the same name but by law are about equal to 2 firecrackers now instead of ~1/8th stick of dynamite they were originally. Currently, US faux M-80s which were manufactured after the real deal was outlawed in the70s only contain ~1/50th of the amount of powder. Not that I'd want anyone to be dropping firecrackers of any kind on me.

You could buy the military-grade M-80 explosion detonation simulators (stupid powerful firecrackers) in the 60's but living on the farm we had a case of real dynamite for clearing junk from the pasture.
Overseas there were no restrictions so you could buy what was called a 'Super Lolo/Atomic Bomb' on the streets.

Any firework can be dangerous if abused but some are dangerous if used 'correctly'.

I know dynamite was freely available in my father's childhood. Just ask for it at the hardware store along with fuse and crimp-on caps/detonators. Farmers had to have it to blast stumps out of the ground to clear fields. One of my uncles was trying to clear a big pine stump in the field by the house. They had dug around the stump and chained it to the tractor but it wouldn't budge. So, they put a stick of dynamite under it, lit the fuse, and ran like hell. BOOM! Big cloud of dirt was thrown in the air but the stump didn't budge. So, 2 sticks. Same result. By then they were tired and fed up with the stump so he put 10 sticks in the hole. ENORMOUS BOOM! Stump headed for the sky in a big arc and headed right for the house. Barely cleared the house and landed with a big thump in the back yard that shook the ground and the house. Which brought Aunt Audrey out to the front porch hollering at em "Just what in the hell do you idiots think you're doing"! At least they lived to tell the story because Aunt Audrey was pretty upset over her broken crockery that got knocked off the shelves!
