Is that free or paid, and if paid, is it expensive and/or requires a 'subscription' ?
Thanks. I had a 3d cad long ago it was buggy.
If you have an association with a school, college or university you can get an educational license which is free.

Years ago before retirement my company BWXT had a deal with Microsoft called HUP (Home User Program. I was getting major software bundles a few thousand US dollars was costing me $18.00 USD. I'll have to ask my daughter who works for OSU (Ohio State University) about any good deals they get. I had all but forgotten about those programs. Been thinking about 3d printing.

Guys, I've dealt quite a bit with 3D modelling. Alot of AutoDesk products (such as Inventor, 3D Max, Rhino, etc) need either a subscription, or a current student email address (with current student card).

Sketchup online however is free! - well it is here in Australia. Here's the LINK.

1. Pick the link above
2. Pick "start modelling"
3. Pick "sign in with google" (or alternatively start as a new as follows):

Wendy,
if you want to make gears, here's a quick online video of how it's done....LINK.
Note, if there is anything you get stuck on with this program, chances are you'll find online youtube videos - there's tons of them. Enjoy....
Chris.

As I sit here it will be Christmas in about an hour. My current computer is dying a death of a thousand shocks, I ordered a refurbished one today from Amazon. I've literally grounded every metal surface around it in a case of locking the barn door after the horses have escaped. Maybe the next one will fair better. Among the features that have died is my microphone input, killing my speech to text option in Win 10. I dislike the hunt/ peck typing immensely. Part of the problem was me paralyzed leg/foot sticking out in front touching my metal worktable my computer KVM was sitting on. I didn't feel it but I caught it shocking my computer, Oh well.

Well I got lucky, I bought a gadget from Amazon that takes getting back the money you've lost audio and turns it into a USB signal. I had to dig deep into my box full of microphones in head phones. Turns out is a bit picky about the microphone that it can use. But now I just got to wait till my new computer comes in before it's truly fixed.

So here I am 3 months later, still kicking along with one leg. I'm doing well. I've been stuck on a project that is not complete I think I'll stick with protoboard projects for a while (yeah, right). I think I have something similar to ADD, my mind is always jumping around. I find myself wanting to move on to the next project before finishing the last. Oh well.

That's funny i used to do that a long time ago. Lucky i had a big workbench back then so i could have multiple projects spewn about.
I was into a lot of different things and didn't like taking things apart that i already set up such as breadboards.

Right after my stroke I was bed bound when I figured how to get of bed There was very little I could do creatively. with the help of friends I figured how to get out of bed and start getting my life back together. at first all I could do is work with paper and cardboard so that's what I did. Then the pandemic hit and I got the stimulus checks, which I used to modify my house for complete access. Over time with the help of kind people I have kept building on that early help where I can now solder with one hand and have a 3D printer I keep extremely busy. If I could get a bit better on computers (my next goal).

I am sure things are still not easy but it is great that you are back to what you love to do.

I recently spent a few days with an injured left hand and kept asking myself “How does Wendy ever cope with this?”
