You are going to do it and you already know some of the PT will be to .... and back. You will be ready for what will be another challenge to add to your conquered list. Wendy, much like Rome will not be rebuilt in a day but will be rebuilt. :)

Been an interesting Week I have made some serious headway If the wheelchair is in position I cam move myself by myself into it. Just as important I can get myself back to bed. I have surgery scheduled at the month to rid my self of bladder stones that have been hurting like heck.Actually it is spelled with two Ls.and my left leg shows sign of me bending it at the knee under my will. This strikes me as part of the path to walking again. It gives me hope. I have no illusions when a PT gets their hand on me It is going to hurt. a lot. I am more than willing. It might take years, but I am planning for the long haul.. When I decided to loose my weigh I started at 275 pounds and got downto155 I suspect I weigh even less now.. I was walking up to 10 miles in a day. before I had my surgery. If I had continued I probably wouldn't have had this stroke.Hindsight being 20/20.

All that lose of weight is going to make your recovery SO much easier. Just think, you are now lifting >100 pounds less out of that bed and into the wheelchair and back.

Just don't lose too much! 155 sounds a bit light. What is your height?

Nope, But Food right now is not something I care about let me start moving around like a normal person and I will replace a lot of muscle mass Which will make me heavier. Estrogen melts muscle. I find myself a calmer person now. A lot of internal anger is gone. If I still had to deal with my dysphoria and the stroke I would have found some way to end myself by now.Life is worth living. strange how that works.
I do eat fried pies, does that count?

You know @Wendy, one thing this site could sorely use is an easier way to find basic circuits. I know there are plenty of other sites that catalog all sorts of circuits, and they're darn useful. But as you know, quality can be an issue. There's a lot of dreck out there.

I could see a role for AAC as being a repository of tested and validated schematics for simple circuits with explanations of why they work and their limitations. One of the greatest cookbooks of all time was Julia Child's. A big part of its success was due to the fact that every recipe and concept in the book was tested over and over. Your blog on this site contains a few rock solid LED circuits. Over the years I can recall seeing other experts here submit elegant PWM circuits, audio amps, and on and on. All the things noobs come here in search of. But currently this collective wisdom is "hidden" in the forums. Yes, it's all there if you search for it and read hundreds - if not thousands - of posts. That's not what a typical searcher is looking for. If they want a circuit for an audio amp or an LED flasher they expect to find a half dozen or so and choose the one that seems closest to their needs. They don't want to read hundreds of posts, back and forth, as each circuit evolves. It can be hard to follow a thread even if you're participating in it, let alone coming along years later.

The work I'm suggesting, to glean the gold out of the forum chaff, makes me picture Sisyphus pushing a boulder up a mountain on his nose. Maybe that's too much like your own outlook on life right now. But if you could bite off small bits it might have a big impact on the future visitors here.
This is one of the reason I have tried to improve the completed project forum. to make it more user friendly withe the index. I would love to collaborate with someone a do this.
Me getting in and out of bed to the manual wheelchair is almost routine, I am getting very pumped by this. I can figure out how to do more . Standing at the sink is proving very useful as that gives me access to the coffee cups(yes I am a caffeine addict.) When I can get o parts storage you will see more articles from me

Hey wendy,
I am new here, but sort of understand what you are going through.
I was once an active person, had a job in horticulture and other manual work, until I destroyed my back.
Constant pain drives me mad, and people saying ‘I understand, my back hurts too’ drives me mad! If you could shake me I would rattle with the tablets I have to take.
I had physiotherapy, and now they won’t do it any more in case they do more harm than good. Pain specialist don’t know what to give me. And surgeons don’t know where to operate first.
Depression..... wow..... from being a fit young man, so being in bed 14 hours a day, to move into a reclining chair for the rest of the day. This isn’t how life was meant to be.
It was almost like I had to grieve my health, knowing it would never get better.

But like you, we need to find small things to take our minds off stuff. I started with a fish tank, and now play with a soldering iron (when I can hold it without shaking to much due to nerve damage) Desoldering happens as much as actual soldering.

So I now took for small projects. I am still trying to find a simple, useless box diagram, one that turns its self off completely when not used, and maybe opens at different speeds when the buttons pushed.
I did start a thread, but if you can help thanks.

I won’t say, ‘hope you get better soon’ but I hope you get back to doing what you enjoy.
Thanks for your experience, it will help many.

Nice meeting you @Jonlate ,I would be glad to help with such a project It sound like it was made for a555 chippie(one of my favorite components). About your back Things do get better over time, That time in between can be rough,But Medical research is on fire. The things happening on the physics front is almost like magic.I am not a believer in things mystical. But electronics comes close in some ways.Which is what got me hooked.

I just had surgery...
To remove bladder stones and as a bonus add a supra pubic tube catheter it is quite painful so I suspect some of my posts will appear stoned.I have hopes it will improve my quality of lifebut not so much short term.

Let's just hope it proves to be nothing. Every now and then I seem to suffer from diverticulitis which can be really painful and annoying. Same symptoms you describe, serious gut pains. Again, hopefully this is nothing and if it persist, obviously consult with your physician.

Have a good weekend....

I get a bout of that once in awhile. Increasing fiber helps a lot.

Update...

For me Hydrocodone its side effect of constipation has had me to a doc for pain management. The long term pain is among some of the most intense pain I have ever felt, On a scale of 1-10 it was a firm 10. After a month I have shaken the side effects. Been to a physical therapist. the surgery that had me taking painkillers( I had a supra pubic tube installed)

Where a tube goes into a nasty looking hole in my tummy (it ain't pretty and mildly painful. Looks like something a Star Trek Borg would have. I have been pretty out of it due to the pain.
