I doubt that much will change on the discovery of ET. First will be some panic.

Why panic?

I get it if the ETs surprise us photon cannons ablazin' -- in which case I'll grab my Klingon disrupter and fire back.

But if some scientist develops incontrovertible evidence of intelligent life 100 light years or more away, what is there to panic about? Are human beings, in general, so psychologically fragile? Are you?

A 500m diameter radio telescope... and it was the Chinese who built it. I wonder if it's operational procedures will be top quality, and if they'll share the collected data with the rest of the world... knowing the Chinese, I doubt it, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't doubt there is alien life somewhere but the number of possible galaxies does nothing to increase the chances that 234 known stars are sending coded signals to earth at 1.65 picoseconds.

My first question after a common language was established would be. What crime did you commit that has a sentence of being sent to earth?
