which one is it 1 or 2?, dunno exactly how the "ON" flag would implement? edit: I think its 1, 2 would just short high and low; edit: I built 1 over the weekend, but I'll check with VeeCAD if I did the layout correctly
It's the first one, the file named "rampUp_ronv.pdf"

I just finished my VeeCAD drawing and it works, apologies to ronv! (I missed something when I was doing it by eye -- ground of Q2 to negative C1)

I switch on, then steady lighting up, then plug in jumper from left of R4 to high, LED dead; when released, steady climb in brightness, brilliant, a step closer!

still can't find transistor anywhere, it's going to be obvious I know ;) found dip4 optoisolators, but the polarity of the leds are reversed from the MCT6 that I've got

@cmartinez do you know how to simulate a volt ramp with LTspice? and how to get transistors in the diagram, so we could replace the LED optocoupler with a simple 2N3904 and volt ramp simulation with wav output across "line_out_pos" and "line_out_neg"

Chillum, I've already attached the files to do that with instructions on post #111

@cmartinez any idea yet? and please where do I find transistor in LTspice? Cant find it in components, but there's a "Pick New Transistor" button on the transistors of the other diagrams, I just can't seem to find it

You will need to redraw one or the other circuits on the same schematic as the other one.
If you click on components you can pick either pnp or npn transistor from the list of parts. Then click on the transistor in the schematic and you will get pick a new transistor.
I don't know how to export wave files. sorry. :(

Ok, here's my take on the mixing of the two circuits, the theremin and the voltage slope. I've replaced the two opto transistors with the vlotage ramp ups, and connected them directly to the 555 through two 10K resistors. Also, I've varied the two ramp up's startup time to make a difference, and that seems to show up at the out label.
Anyway, I don't know if doing things right because I get a steady 9V output on the 555. I don't know yet how to sim a speaker, but I will find out. Also, I think I know how to output a wav file once we get the sim to work the way it should.

C, I'm not sure what the objective is. Do you wave your hand over a photo transistor to change the frequency or is it a switch of some kind.
Anyway try it first with just 1 current source and remove the cap on the 555 so it is replaced with the current sources. That should get the timer running.

I've breadboarded the theremin with LDRs x2, and it gives a woohie sound, now I built on one breadboard 2x rampup, on the same board as the theremin, now I havent hooked the ramps up with the theremin yet, still testing the ramps, ramp 2, an exact replica of ramp 1 doesn't work, while ramp 1 does work, I test it with a LED, any clues? I replaced all transistors, and swopped the pots around to find a fault but there is none...

about theremin 02: theremin asks for emittor collector connection between transistors and 10k, and collector emittor connection to C1, If it's there, I don't see it...

@ronv, have you seen the video at the end of the link in the first post? we want to mimic what phototransistors do then the man waves his hand across the 2 transistors that I added in theremin 03

Edit: there's two problems with using actual phototransistors, 1 they're too expensive ~13$ ea and 2 I want in the end to have 8 notes, a fart piano, so that's why the variable ramp, to produce notes that will later be implemented by replacing a pot with a resistor

@ronv both circuits works now, I think a resistor wasn't seated correctly, I replaced resistors 0.25W with 0.5W ones that were in the original ramp up (the original ramp had 0.5W resistors) and now the second one that had 0.25W resistors, now has 0.5W resistors... and now it works, now errands and then I'll hook them up with the theremin, hopefully it works!

I'm on a trip right now Chillum, and I'll get back to you later... but I'm glad to hear you've been making lots of progress ;)
