Hi there,

I have looked around on the internet but coundn't find a good answer and was wondering if it would be possible to add some buttons to a phone that are programmable. Since my phone broke down a few weeks ago i bought a new one though to my surprise the screen was only broke after some testing meaning the the phone it self still works (did not pay to much attention at first because i somewhat needed an excuse to get a new one). Now since i know i work and i have been planning on building a handheld gaming device with a rpi3 for some time i questioned if i could use my old phone for this. I figured i could rip out the old battery pcb and use these with a new screen and put it in a nice psp like case to make a handheld gaming device the only problem is would there be a way to make my phone communicate with some other buttons? my original plan was to buy something like the attached file and put a raspberry in there though would i be able to do the same with my phone and how would i connect the buttons? My old phone was a xiaomi redmi note 3. i know it's a really novice question but i also consider myself a real noob (in electronical diy) so if any of you may know of a solution i would love to know.

thanks in advance.
