According to an on-line spec for this product, its connectivity is a USB and Scart port only.

If the above is correct, this device might do what you want – but as a DVD player, the 3.5mm stereo jack (from the Scart block) is audio out only.
However it may act as an audio in for equipment connected to the DVD player (when the player is off/muted)

I am assuming he means his smartphone. But the DVD unit only has a USB aux input.

Do you want to play music....or music and video from your smartphone?

If I understand the situation, I don't think you will have much success.

I was able to put a wireless dongle on the media player once.....that allowed me to stream movies thru it.

I would assume that the DVR is connected to some kind of display screen and a 5.1 or greater sound system. And I am assuming he wants to play music or watch a video.....that he has on or stream thru his smart phone.

Just guessing....sometimes it takes many post to get to the real question.

And I would guess that more movies now....have been seen on smartphone.....than a movie screen.

My thoughts also, so why not just connect the phone directly to whatever media he is using to view the DVD?
