I want to use this little neat cct on a cars electrics.

If I dump the transformer & the diodes D3 & D4 along with C4, I can just use 6v DC, yes?

What chip should I use to get the car's electrics to give 6v DC enough mA to run the cct & solenoid.

Sorry for the confusion - it's not at all similar to the thread shown, but (assuming I've got the pdf link right) it should be self explanatory.
