about RC transmitters and receivers

hi guys,
I'm a beginner and just wanna ask if how do these transmitters and receivers of stuff like rc planes work?
what components receives or transmits radio signals?
and how do they transform it to become an electric pulse?
sorry for the trouble.

Back in the ancient of days, most RC receivers were "superregenerative".....very sensitive, but were as broad as a barn door. Now most decent RC receivers are of a superheterodyne type. The transmitter is usually just a few milliwatts, and is not much more than a simple oscillator, with simple frequency shift keying. The frequency shift keyed system is decoded into a PWM signal....pulse width modulation....that ultimately gives a DC output voltage depending on the PWM duty cycle. PWM is EXTREMELY easy to implement.

The ARRL Handbook has a fairly decent section on RC methods.

does this "the lower the frequency the higher the range" statement means " 433Mhz rf modules has better range than 2.5Ghz?
and sorry about this but can you tell or suggest or anything to me how to build my own rf modules, thank you
