I recently found this paper: A Missing Active Device—Trancitor for a New Paradigm of Electronics Just wanted to share it to hear your thoughts about it.

 

"The operating principle of a trancitor are currently unknown."

Let's find a way to make one first then we can talk about how useful it is.

 

Once they become available on DigiKey I'll start getting interested.

 

A few things already seem to meet the definition, e.g :
1) A potentiometer,
2) An autotransformer,
3) A 3-electrode piezo beeper.

 

It's only of interest if it becomes more than just theoretical.
