Hi, my professor assigned me to do a project that must use 7 segments as Countdown timer that if it goes 0 then the bulb must be off but if my pir sensor detects a movement even if it starts counting down, it should be restart again . He said I shouldn't use microprocessor or microcontroller to do that, what components should I use and the schematic for it?

Which components do you plan to use? You’ll need a clock and a counter…

 

You will need a BCD counter and 7-segment decoder/driver plus a 7-segment display and current limiting resistors.
