5.25" floppy drive alignment?

It is not strictly relevant to the purpose of the thread, but I want to let you know.... As a result of getting me thinking about this general topic, I went back and found a couple of boxes of C64 stuff that was, at least, 30-35 years old. From time to time, I read about folks wondering how long a 5.25 floppy would last. I have data now to suggest that the answer is more than 30-35 years.

I had to do some cleaning on the drive (still have not found my alignment diskette), and I am now able to read plenty of commercially written diskettes of the same age. I can also format and read and write diskettes.
