Hi im trying to make a linear actuator powered off a 18650 li ion battery. I have a geared motor and a screw thread but obviously don't want to burn it out by having it try to rip itself apart when it reaches the ends. I know bigger actuators use limit switches like whats in my 3d printer but i can't seem to find any rated for 3v only 12v. Anyone know where I might be able to source these in the uk? thanks

if i recall correctly common type of limit switch in 3D printer is a micro switch. this type of product is low cost and readily found everywhere. they will work with 3V or 12V or 24V or anything within their ratings. typical ratings are 30VDC, 15A.

yup... think of ratings as maximum values.

you may use bathroom scale and find that you weigh something like 138lbs. it is very unlikely that you will never find a chair rated exactly for that weight. and you should not have to...

this chair is rated for 240lbs. it will hold any person up to that weight. you do not want to sit on it if you exceed the chair rating.
