I need to lower the speed of a 415V 3 phase 6.3KW motor.
Would a VFD suffice ?
If so, what do I need to look for ?

You need to look for a VFD rated for your motor HP.
Looks to be around 8hp.
I don't know what is available to you but the Hitachi offer a decent product at a fairly reasonable price.
I would stay away from the Chinese Huanyang etc.
Do you just need a fixed speed drop or variable?

There are not too many ways to reduce rpm of an induction motor, generally for a system that requires just one fixed speed it is built in with some kind of mechanical reduction.
The VFD will certainly do it, and also has the features of pre-set speeds, in the case of the Hitachi it has up to 16 presettable.

That will depend on the motor application and what it powers and how much you want to reduce the speed.

If it's a fixed speed reduction of a belt driven load just changing the motors drive pulley will be far cheaper and simpler to do then adding a VFD unit.
