Yes there are a few bumps but I think the trend is that we must go down this road sooner or later because of the increased power demands and no other way to fuel them.

We are also seeing a big new interest in supersonic flight, or rather what it is referred to now as hypersonic flight. Speeds of around 3600mph at heights of some 100000 feet or more (twice current flight plans). From what I had read, NASA hopes to get passenger hypersonic travel by 2026. Let's just hope it's not too expensive.
I like to go out to Los Angeles now and then but it's a 6 hour flight there and something like 5 hours back, which is a long time to sit in a seat. At the speeds they are talking, it would take maybe 45 minutes. That's a HUGE difference.
Of course we also have to hope they get it safe enough for everyday travel as well as a competitive cost each way.
Test flights start in 2025, not too far away.
