I have had one of this 18BYJ-48 stepper motors in my parts box for some time and thought I would try to get it to work. This is a different stepper and different issue from my other thread.

They are pretty popular on eBay and I think that is where I got it.

If do a continuity test on the pins, I get 257 ohms between any 2 pins except for red and any other pin, I get 127 ohms. Something tells be something is not right and for the non red pins I should only be reading continuity in pairs. Am I correct?

Sounds right to me unless I am missing something, post the resistance between colours.
Max.

How can that be right? I have to have at least read some opens between some pins?

I should measure an open between pink and yellow, pink and blue, orange and yellow, orange and blue??

Orange and Yellow 250 ohms
Orange and Pink 250 ohms
Orange and Blue 250 ohms
Yellow and Pink 250 ohms
Yellow and Blue 250 ohms
Pink and Blue 250 ohms

That does not make sense to me. I need 2 separate windings correct?

Red and any color 127 ohms.

Red to any other wire is one winding.
Between any other two wires you are measuring one winding to the red, then one winding to the other wire. Two windings in series is twice the red to any wire resistance. Perfect.
