Hard to give an answer when no one is listening. The TS hasn't been back since creating this thread. Either we've scared him away or he forgot how to get here. Or maybe he didn't get the answer he wanted (gender assumed male). Unwatched.

 

There you have the answer in that "Y" seems to agree that a mechanical scheme is the better choice. NO modification of the remote so NO WAY to cause an electrical disruption, and NO complex circuit to accidentally damage/destroy that remote. That makes a lot of sense from where I stand.
