1.5V battery in, 3.3V out. Need a DIP package solution.

Several surface mount solutions available at good prices, but can't find one with DIP package.

Ideal input range: 1 to 1.7V
Vout: 3.3V
Current: 10mA max
Package needed: DIP (8 pins preferred)

Any ideas please?
Would an MC34063 (or any existing part) work down to 1Vin if the current used is very low? (spec says 3V min)

You can convert a surface mount part to a DIP with a socket. Not sure that's the word to search for, but anyway there are adapters.

Thanks for the suggestion WayneH.
The product is intended for hobbyists who would not necessarily be good at soldering very small parts like sot-23's. But DIP size parts are easy to solder in comparison.

Why not just use a 3 volt lithium based battery and skip the conversion process?
Thanks for the suggestion tcmtech.
A 3Volt, CR2032 is an option (that's the one you had in mind?), but has poor capacity (c200mAh). Closer to 1000mAh is preferred, as would be the case using an AA battery.

Ah I see.

Well then here you go. AA size 3.6 volt 2400mAh. $2.65

Although more than likely if you spend a bit of time looking through the battery section of your local electronics store you will find a bunch of other sizes of 3 - 3.6 volt high mAh rated batteries as well.
