if the distance from the focus to a point P on the parabola y^2 = 4px is 10, find the coordinate of p.

how to get the coordinates of P? tnx

what is the equation?

If p a point (i.e., an x,y pair) or is it a parameter? You have y^2 = 4px implying that p is a parameter (a single number). Please clarify.

Setting that aside, consider the following questions in general:

What are the coordinates of the focus of the parabola?

What is the distance from that point to an arbitrary point on the parabola?

What point(s) on the parabola are satisfy the desired distance.

My humble suggestion would be this: instead of trying to "find an equation" to plug a number into and get another number, you might want to learn what a parabola is so you can solve the problem. This is an important concept.
