Zeners in Series

Hi all, I am in need of some 24V 1 watt zeners, Radio Shack has some 12V 1 watters, seems to me they'd be OK to connect in series, see any problems?

Thanks, Rick

It will be ok but a small increase of the ripple voltage across the zeners may occur due to increased series resistance (two zeners - two resistances in series).

OK thanks I'll head to the shack in the AM, its kinda a funny circuit, it has a 1A fuse in series with a 200K resistor and a 1n4007 bridge shunted by the zener, the zener shorted and the resistor took the entire 120V of course never blowing the fuse, I'm not sure what the fuse is supposed to protect.

Thanks, Rick

That is a correct design. :D

Semiconductor are designed to protect expensive fuse so should definitely destroy first in order to protect the fuse.
