The Video card does actually have 256MB on board ram. And it should work just fine in Xubuntu.The computer has 256 mb RAM not the graphic card.
Maybe you could use a convert if the software approach is not working.

thanks nasspook; how do i install these debian in the terminal, i did download 173 and extracted them i have them in home file,do i have to unistall x.xorg?thanksYou can try it but be careful not to load any 3xx driver components like the nvidia-setting for the latest drivers. The older cards are a pain to install in any distro.
