There was another race where the winner won by one vote. Think it was also in KY. Those people know that every vote counts. Especially the person who lost. If just one person hadn't voted, the loser would have had a 50-50 chance of winning. If just one person had voted the other way, the loser would have been the winner.

Here in Utah we have 2 that are within 400 to 500 votes, we're not done yet till tomorrow. However, they are contesting the right-in votes, they need to all be verified by signature and for those that are in question they will physically come in and vote in a booth.

I mentioned that 2 were running for Congress Mia Love and Ben Macadams, Mia Rep and Ben Dem, he won by 739 but he was losing by 435 or so days ago and now he's won.

Mia said she will contest it demanding to verify signatures on Mail in Ballots, I feel she should have the right to do so. If that's the case those who are not registered are removed and those in question need to come in and vote at a booth.

The answer to the question of why people vote was stated clearly and concisely just a few posts ago and by a new user, whom I quote below.

In many ways that short note sums up my position on this matter quite accurately. There is more to it, yes, but that pretty much expresses it simply and concisely. At a time of Thanksgiving and sharing a positively wonderful meal with some 15-20 wonderful friends, that simple answer encompasses something on my list of what to give the thanks for.

There are only two dissenters in the thread, you and the TS. Everyone else has pretty much made tried to make the point that votes count. Maybe humorously sometimes and maybe indirectly, but it seems like the point has been made repeatedly. You and the TS believe that votes do not count and neither of you vote. You are entitled to that opinion. It is not illegal to have that opinion or to commit that non-action.

You, however, are just itching to jump right back into the fray, not just with complete disregard for the moderator action, but because, I believe, your feelings are still hurt. To me, it is just more roaring from an anonymouse. When I log off, I can honestly say that I don’t think about any activity on the board in any off-topic thread. The evidence suggests that you can’t stop thinking about it. It is, in fact, you that distinctly lacks "even temperament" in this case.

The pathetic attempt at disparagement by slamming my last name and doing so anonymously is a new and truly bizarre low. For those who do not recognize it, the suggestion is that I am motivated to vote [or motivated to have spoken out as to why I think that people don’t vote] is somehow because of the brutal murder (some 54 years ago) of a young women (who had the same last name and is not related to me or anyone that I know) which was erroneously reported to have occurred with many witnesses to the crime who did not call the police. Even a casual inquisitor would know that the story [not the murder] was made up and was thoroughly debunked many years ago – even with just a few clicks you would have known that “In 2007, an article in the American Psychologist found "no evidence for the presence of 38 witnesses, or that witnesses observed the murder, or that witnesses remained inactive". In 2016, The New York Times called its own reporting "flawed", stating that the original story "grossly exaggerated the number of witnesses and what they had perceived". That you would stoop to such a nonsensical attempt at disparagement of my last name and to do so with perceived anonymity again strongly suggests, not how clever or effective an attacker you are, but rather how angry and hurt you are.

Regardless of how hurt your feelings are, you will receive no apology from me. I strive to stand for something and not fall for anything. If it is genuinely important to me I will express my views with confidence, honesty and passion and I will put my name to it knowing that it will be available indefinitely and may very well “upset” some others. Voting is an issue that is genuinely important to me and I admit a distinct distaste for those who don’t vote, not because of religious views or because of a sincere philosophical position, but because they rationalize that it simply doesn’t matter and they want to avoid jury duty. Whether you do or do not see yourself in that group is not my concern.

You should, however, again in my opinion, avoid the use of the word “genuine” except if you want to ask somebody what that word means. Please note that nowhere did you express your position that voting does not matter (nor did you make any admission of non-participation). Also note that you had no objection to, what looks like, a DSM cut and paste definition of narcissism by another user. That is, note your absence of outrage of “pathologization”. Clearly you found that such “pathologization” was acceptable if reference was to an “ignorant voter” but here, it is quite unacceptable in reference to a non-voter. Note also your equivocation here as to whether I have “an established pattern of denigration, pathologization and puerile rants against any who share views in variance with their own” or whether I am “the educated, highly intelligent gentleman that you usually appear to be...”.

I am convinced that you will continue to try and escalate this bizarre aggression, but you will have to do so without my further participation.
