That's more like it. Except, in your diagram you show one limb on the positive side of the battery and another limb on the negative side of the battery.is it because since my arms are stretched so far apart, the little resistance which is inherent in the wire has actually accumulated over the length to such an extent where it is comparable to that of me?

am i right now?
It's not an exclusive-or situation, the electrons can take more than one path. Most of the electrons flow through the wire to wherever they are going but, since there is a large voltage across you body if you are touching ground, some flow through you. This current flow through your body resistance, for any normal power line voltage, will be sufficient that it will likely allow you to be a candidate for the yearly Darwin Award.why would it electrocute me ?
my limbs, no matter where Im touching, presents an incredibly large resistance as compared
to the little to no resistance wire. Why would electrons want to flow through me instead?
This lineman is riding a HV line that carries 500,000 volts and the lineman is not electrocuted, the same situation as a bird on the wire.

The reason it is not safe for you to touch a HV wire is because your feet on the ground creates a circuit through your body.
What can and does happen is with large flocks of birds, starlings etc, they will often crowd the loop-through point at cross arms, and either individually or collectively provide a path from conductor to cross arm.the birds must have touched each other while on one wire, said it happens all the time. I for one dont believe them.
