I asked this question on Google, as near as I can tell 0° Fahrenheit is the freezing point of salt water versus freshwater.and at 32°F you add 180° to get the 212° we know and love for boiling. I'm still wondering why Fahrenheit didn't make the jump and just select 0° and 100° ready two end points of the thermometer . I guess it seems more obvious after the fact?
