Hi,

I am a Handyman with some very basic electronics knowledge prompted by the need for installing gate motors and home security systems. Did a basic theory course on distance learning, so no or very limited practical knowledge. Did already build a few working circuits from Popular Electronics. I am now interested in getting off the grid, so I need to do some serious homework in green power systems.

I am very excited to be a part of the All About Circuits community. Electronics have always been fascinating to me. Things that get my attention are clocks, lamps, motion activated devices, light activated devices, laser intruder alert systems, solar and wind power, voltage inversion and lots more. I was lucky enough to be born in 1957 which has allowed me to watch so much history as the years have passed. The NASA space program in the 1960s was so unbelievably exciting as they worked towards the goal of putting a man on the moon.

Hi everyone, my name is Chris Evans, (no not the ginger one). I'm 51 and presently employed as an electrical/mechanical engineer.

I have served 12 years in the RAF as an explosive technician, then I worked in Russia as an agricultural engineer for 12 yrs.

My hobbies are fishing, electronics and I have my own mobile disco and photobooth.

I did a course on micro processors at college for a term, once a week. I wanted to learn how to program a microchip and make some lighting for my disco. The course was ok but I had som many unanswered questions. Suppose that what happens when you are on a course with 25 others (much younger students)

I'd love to be able to program a chip to be able to control some led bulbs. I have had a mess about with an arduino board and some basic free programs for it but I really need to find someone who could help me

So that's me and look forward in chatting with anyone.

Cheers
Chris

Hi guys, I am Viki..I am learning something that I like the most(about electronics). Yes I am doing engineering degree of 2nd year.. I want the new and amazing concepts regarding electronics.

I am a 75 yo retired EE that has become the local electronics person. I worked for HP/Agilent/Keysight for 22 years as a Systems Solution Architect. Over the 22 years I designed test and measurement systems ranging from DC to light with the last 5 years in the RF and Microwave region and lastly in Cell Telephone Base station remote monitoring.
My background prior to HP was as a test engineer for Fairchild Defense Systems and Sanders Associates.

Hello I am Narayanan M , doing engineering in ECE in Madras Institute of technology,India....

Hello Everyone,

I am Joe (Jose) from Mexico. I am a handyman more than an electrician. I joined the group looking for help regarding an old hostel we (my wife and I) bought and are restoring. Well, basically here I was just wanting to introduce myself and say hi.

Cheers to everyone,

I'm a 67 year old grumpy old bloke in Victoria Australia. I more or less had to retire a year or so ago when my hearing went completely but I am now going through rehabilitation with a cochlear implant stuck in my head delivering very strange sounds!!!

I hadn't really planned on or prepared for "retirement", voluntary or otherwise, and have been wandering around wondering what to do with myself (I haven't had a TV for more than 30 years and don't want to start now).

About that same 30+ years ago when I first started going deaf, I got talked into electronics by the Dean of an Electronics Faculty in Melbourne - his argument was that if I was going to end up completely deaf, computers were the way to go since they never expected you to talk to or listen to them. So I did several qualifications in the still relatively new world of digital electronics over several years before I got head-hunted back into my old executive management career, where I then stayed (till I found becoming totally deaf and managing companies is a bit difficult).

Remembering all the fun I had building all those different class projects such as the variable power supply including winding my own transformers and the fun of trouble shooting PDP11/34's, I have become interested in getting back into electronics as a hobby and after setting up a (very basic) lab and playing around with converting an old ATX power supply into a benchtop model, I'm hooked again.

I'm really looking forward to refreshing my memory with the education course and videos and learning through other's problems and solutions to problems.
