Who are you?

More than anything, I am curious how stuff works.

I have no formal training following high school.
I have been repairing things all my life as a hobby but never really delved into the electronics world until recently. Besides repairing, I have designed and built many devices.
I have taught myself mostly everything I know through books, online and about mechanics, electrical, physics and the other sciences as well as politics, marketing, programming, history, welding, humanity, psychology, sociology etc etc etc. Seriously, that list is long.

I know much about a lot of topics but not enough to be an expert in any field except for industrial marketing.

Above all, I am a serious learner... an addiction might say.

Hi, I am Ward, 29yo computer engineer living in Belgium.
I'm mainly here to lookup some information concerning audio circuits. Have a basic knowledge about electronics, but I'm hoping to learn something more around here! :)

Hello. When I was many decades younger, electronics was a hobby that just slowly fell by the way side when I went to college, started working and got busy with life. Now, my interest in it has been rekindled particularly with building small projects using microcontrollers. I have restarted to rebuild my electronics workbench and introduce my son to electronics. I stumbled upon this website when I was doing a search on something I dont't remember in particular but I have been enjoying reading the online textbook.

Hello Everyone. Thank you for allowing me to be a member of the group. I joined primarily as a review to study for my FCC Amateur Extra exam. I am a former US Navy Electronics Technician and graduated from the US Navy Polaris Electronics "A" School. After the Navy I worked as a Computer Field Service Engineer for Digital Equipment, Motorola Computer Systems and others. I left that field in 1991 and I am just looking to review the basic electronics concepts. I probably will not post much as I am very busy. I will however enjoy reading your posts and look forward to studying the material.

Hi Jeff, your post re:ham exam caught my attention. I too recently got my extra license. What helped me was reviewing using hamstudy.org. They use a flashcard type training, check it out, passed the test easily.

Haven't used my license though, I find the equipment I like pretty expensive particularly the SDR transcievers.

Good luck.

I'm a EE/CompE with 6 years experience and am on this forum looking for some help with some home projects/tinkering. I found some relevant threads in your forums and joined to follow up with some questions.

Hello all

Here in the West Coast of Ireland and I just found this site when looking for projects on the Arduino. I am trying to resurrect my B Eng in EE and Instrumentation from the last century and hoping my 11yr old son will become curious when he sees me messing about. I have just about got him enthused about Javascript on Khanacademy so hoping this coupled with all his hard work playing on the XBox will open his eyes to what he could achieve. I am going to start learning the piano as well so I will have things to do when he (hopefully) leaves home to go to college (unless I have won huge on the lotto meantime). That is if I survive teaching my daughter to drive!!!!!!!

Hello,
I learned electronics in the Navy, then have worked in the microcomputer industry for many years. I have learned a lot more software than I ever thought I would.

Hi all,

I am a RF Engineer for the past 23 years. Been interested in electronics since I was a teenager, taking everything apart that I got my hands on (destroying most), to try and find out how it works. I recently tried my hand at software development and got hooked on Java and writing apps for Android mobile devices.

Hello All
I a retired test engineer from DOD contractor. With a little time on my hands I was surfing and came across this site. It is taking me down memory lane. The first computer I got my hands on was the just introduced HP85 32Kb of ram. To date myself we repaired tube tv set at my school to earn a little money.
I'm looking at all your info on op-amp design and boolean logic and memories are pouring back.
I have been blessed to see the evolution from vacuum tubes, to semiconductors, to lsi and vlsi.

Cheers to all!!!
