Who are you?

Hi - Name's Randy, I'm located near Corvallis, OR, USA, working at Oregon State University as a research assistant in Ocean and Coastal Engineering. I earned my B.S. in Applied Physics/Computer Science in 2007. I have a wife and two daughters.

I've been interested in electronics since playing with my older brothers' dilapidated 150-in-1 Radio Shack kits as a kid. I began learning about circuits in physics in high school and college. As a physics major we had a class in electronics so we could build/understand research instrumentation. I really liked the course, but unfortunately it was only one semester and I never got into any other coursework beyond that. My Electricity and Magnetism physics class was mostly about the higher-order math stuff--not really about making circuits.

I've always desired a strong conceptual understanding of electrical energy, and have read a lot of online material. My nemesis has been electrical potential (voltage), about which I'm still really struggle to really get a good gut feeling--especially when talking about AC. I've started reading the textbook here at AAC to hopefully get more clarity.

I'm slowly putting together a multipurpose workshop. Once I have my electronics bench set up, I have some basic equipment to get started. I have an old Tektronics analog scope (one of the long, narrow ones) that I think just needs some new fuses to get operational, a cheap DMM, various plug-pack power supplies, and one of those electronics kit things with a solderless breadboard I picked up at Goodwill.

My initial interest is in audio. I've started assembling a P27 guitar amplifier from Elliot Sound Products (http://sound.westhost.com)--I've been waiting to get my workshop up and going before continuing on that endeavor.

I'm also interested in getting into embedded stuff (who isn't these days?). I have some years of experience in Test Engineering working on a small Mode-S/ADS-B transmitter for airport vehicles. I've never written anything big in a low-level language but I've done my share of editing and debugging others' code. Nowadays I primarily work in MATLAB and Python, but I really enjoyed using LabVIEW as a Test Engineer and would like to get into that again some day.

The "joatmon" part of my username is Jack Of All Trades Master Of None, as I'm a bit of a dilettante in everything (couldn't you tell?)

Hi, my name is Yuvraj and I am 21 years old. I am a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate student at Thapar University, Patiala in India. My major industry interest is the automobile industry and Powertrain Engineering. I have been a Formula Student Germany participant in the Combustion category. I have already worked on the Powertrain of two IC engine powered Formula Student race cars in my first and second years in college. However, now I am trying to build an electric vehicle. So to gain sufficient practical knowledge of electronics of motor controllers and the Arduino development platform, I have joined this community.
Right now, I am on an internship with Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation. I am working in the Powertrain plant of Suzuki.
In future, I aspire to gain expertise in the fields vehicle dynamics and advanced powertrains spanning the fields of IC engine Powertrains, Battery Electric Powertrains, Hybrid Electric Powertrains, Gas turbines and associated topics. I want to pursue a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering specializing in the areas of electro-mechanical systems and Powertrain controls after completing my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Right now, I am specifically interested in controlling a DC motor using Arduino and a potentiometer as the acceleration control of an electric car. Being a mechanical engineering major, I am having a little difficulty in making circuits and I am unaware of the tools used to design and analyse circuits. Also, I require this website to brush up some of the Basic electrical engineering concepts taught in the engineering classes.

Greetings. I am a retired electrician who has an interest in all things electromechanical.

Most of my experience has been in commercial electrical construction. If your house needs electrical work I may be able to help. However, as far as DC solid state electronics go, I am clueless!

I'm hoping to learn more and hopefully even contribute.

Thanks to all!

Hello, I am currently a student in good ole' Louisiana going for my Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. I actually work as an intern in the Power industry, but have a side interest in Electronics. I have never delved too deep into electronics, but I do find it very interesting. I like to try small projects every now and then, but haven't done anything very large.

Hopefully I can help contribute my knowledge and also learn a lot from all of you.

Hi, my name is Eswar Munipalli. I am a undergraduate student at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University,Hyderabad , India .
I am a student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. It is my first year at the university.

Well Hello,
I am very intrested in circuits and electronics, I am here to learn as much as I can quickly, since I do have some equipment (arduino, jumpers, general electric tools, etc..) but lack the knowledge of using them.
Hope I don't leech much

Hi, I'm a high school student who is very interested in electronics and its fun uses :)
I'm fairly new to everything but a fast learner. I'm currently trying to create laser tag to use with my friends. (any help would be great!)

The trick is to start a thread with specific details, then draw attention to it with PMs. But no one is going to do the work for you, we might provide plans but you had better be prepared to sling a little solder.

Apa khabar,

My name is Han currently an unemployed skilled worker and a student, best of both world. Currently in Malaysia, pursuing in Sustainable Energy and Power Distribution. By standard it's just a Diploma here nothing much. But this site have helped me a lot especially on electrical principal subject, and especially again for giving me the long -hated relationship of both numbers and formulas. With this I wish to thank all of your supports for updating and keeping this website informative.Thank you/ terima kasih. Not to mention also for the fellows forum mate who which I'll be asking a lot of questions near future.

Hi, I'm a retired Electronics Engineer (or so they say). I have been playing around with my own circuit designs around the house with my new spare time. I spent my career doing control systems. Maybe I can contribute and maybe not. So we shall see.

Though my Bachelor's degree was in mechanical engineering, my desire to be a complete engineer goaded me to pursue my MS in a hybrid mechanical/electrical engineering field (specifically mechanical and electromechanical system design for Energy Systems). After working for a few energy production and storage startups in Northern California (which eventually ran out of money - 19 out of 20 companies do, I suppose), I am back in India working on pet projects including home automation and mechatronic system design for my amusement, while trying to maintain a full time job in Design and Finite Element Analysis.

I am seeking to resurrect / polish old knowledge / skills. USN Aviation electronics technician early 70's, BS Comp Sci, MBA mid-late 70's. My career and vocation has been providing appropriate IT resources / services. Have performed almost all ADP/IT jobs; built, repaired, administered, managed PC's, networks, infrastructure as job and for family. Final position Enterprise Architect for US gov. Recently retired and obtained amateur radio technician license (50% memorization / 50% remembering old knowledge/skills). Currently working on what next?. Considering: teaching, revisiting basic electronics, scout merit badge counselor, maker, maker coach. Also considering IT consulting with emphasis on disaster preparation / continuity of operations for small businesses (lived thru Katrina and witnessed first hand devastation to many small businesses).

Hello all! My name is Kenneth, and I am currently studying for my radio engineering certification from the SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers). I have been an amateur operator for 25 years (KC4NUN) and worked as a Motorola two-way service technician for a couple of years. I have been in the broadcast industry for the past 20 years primarily as an on-air host and am beginning to transition to the engineering side of things.

Hey guys what's up! My name is Brandon Gilligan I am a Computer Science Major at Colorado Tech. I work with Arduinos and Raspberry Pi's a lot at my internship and thought it would be a cool idea to share my projects online. It's great to meet you all!
