I assume that also include animatronics. In any case we would all love to see examples of your work, even if it is simple.

I joined over 4 years ago but unfortunately didn't get involved in any discussions. I went to a community college for EE but that was many years ago. Haven't been involved in electronics very much in the last few years but am again showing interest.

As a mechatronics student, the first 2 years of undergrad were the same as mechanical engineering. During the last 2 years we had few electronics, robotics and mechanical papers. Ohh I also did 1 programming paper ( assembly ). So basically I did bit of everything!

Is there really such a place? Anyway welcome :)

PS: I visited your website. Your company seriously needs some help writing in english. I usually don't complain about that, but yours is a professional website, and it should be written correctly.

Don't mean to criticize, just trying to help :)

Note from Bill Marsden: That person was a spammer. He was posting from the Philippines, and the link was a commercial one. He is gone, never to return, with help from me. The lie about his location was stupid, Moderators can look up where a post is from.

I was always playing around with old valve (tube) radios and built my first crystal set receiver when i was told they would not work where i lived as a young kid.

Became a radio repair serviceman and later trained up as a Studio Engineer in radio broadcast and then moved into television. Traveled the world working in many countries with TV station requirements then came back to NZ. Look after one the countries main TV station's 30 plus cameras now doing repairs even now down to component level.

Main hobbies include building gear like tube hifi amplifiers or specialist electrical system accessories for off-road vehicles.... Love messing around with anything electronic or mechanical based from model steam engines to repairing mechanical and electrical/electronic things, scratch building cars (recon automatic or manual transmissions at home) and fixing stuff in my machinist and electronics home workshops. This SDR radio is a hoot to combining computer and radio software as i often listen in on HAM radio in the HF Bands even though i am not one myself yet!

People come to me with a mission critical electronics section, part of a machine etc they urgently need running again but is now unsupported so i do often do a redesign (ic/semicon substitution etc) and have things going again for them... It's good to see someone so appreciative.

I hope to bounce some of my ideas here from time to time from experience and to always listen to what others offer. You learn new stuff everyday.

Cheers, Pete in NZ.

I have been poking around the forum for a couple of months now just reading a bunch of different stuff and what ya' all have to say. Glad I finally decided to join the community. I am currently majoring in Electronics Engineering Technology. Sorry not Electronics Engineering. It was the best option for me at the time and is still the best option for me right now. I wish I could go just straight Electronics Engineering or even Electrical Engineering, but oh well!

I will be starting up my electronics courses in a couple of months and am getting really excited. I have been doing general's for the past year and I am ready to get going into electronics. I have always had a fascination for electronics. I really think I found what I want to do. I am 29 years old and single living at home with the parents. I had lost my job about three years ago and it took me a year to find a job that pays crap, goes nowhere, and I hate with a passion. So that is when I decided to do school.
I had attended a local technical college a few years back learning to be a biomedical technician. I really enjoyed learning about the basics of electronics while I was there.
I finally joined to try and meet new people and learn as I progress through school. Look forward to hanging out with everyone :)

My name is Matt. I am from a small town in Vermont, U.S. I am currently living in Boston Massachusetts, working as an electronics and computer technology lab assistant at a university here. I have been playing with electronics since I was about five years old, though I didn't get serious about it until I was about 12. I have a passion for Tesla coils and other high voltage projects, though lately I have been learning to program PICs in C. I have dabbled in various fields of electronics, computers, mathematics, video editing, rocketry, and several other hobbies, though electronics is certainly my strongest. I am proud to be a member here, and I look forward to many more years here on AAC :)

@DerStrom8

You don't seem to see to many kids these days getting too excited about messing around with electronics. I was always curious what was inside, but never got too serious about it until I was 25. I guess better late than never ;)

Hi everybody. I'm Gaz from North Wales. I'm currently enrolled as a (relatively) mature student studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Cardiff, on my first year studying towards a masters with an industrial placement (so a five year course in total). Prior to studying at Cardiff I worked as an electrician and also as a live event technician specialising in lighting for live shows, concerts, music festivals, conferences, and theatrical productions.

This board looks like it has a wealth of experience behind it, so I'm looking forward to jumping right in!

Hi everyone, my name is Mel and i'm from the Southwest of England, Somerset to be exact.
I have too many hobbies that take too much time and money.
My current passion is electric bikes. Having built two already and now a third, i realise that 'off the shelf controllers' although clever, aren't doing exactly what i want them to do. I have a few ideas and i would like some expert help to acheive some modifications. Thanks
