which certifications should I request for electronic components to be used in units (subsystems) for series production vehicles?
In particular, applications of memories for ECU´s and infotainment in automotive industry.

Welcome to AAC!

Unless things have changed, semiconductor manufacturers typically state that their products are not to be used in situations were lives could be at risk, such as an ECU. Such usage usually required explicit approval from the company CEO unless the part was already certified for that application. That used to be a standard disclaimer in manufacturer databooks.

Intel used to have parts certified for automotive applications. That would likely make them be industrial rated parts (more expensive than commercial parts).

thank you dl324. My point is, which are the standards to qualify a memory component to be used in an automotive unit. what certifications and credentials are required for the memory components to be qualified for the automotive industry.

Thank you very much! Your answer was pretty useful.

I read the std and as I understand it was (at least initially) implemented for the American market. Do you or someone else here knows if European vehicle OEM´s refer to only this one? Are there other standards that can be required for the memories in automotive applications, globally or in specific markets?
